Please note the forum is for everyone!!! and is 100% free.

However, if you wish to support the developemtn of a supporters club why not take out a subscription and become a full UK Discus Association Supporters member.

Membership funds, fundraising activities, donations etc. go to support the following.

By subscribing you help . . .

1) Ensuring the in perpetuity of this forum dn the development of a UKDA supporters club.

2) Improving information and knowledge on the discus fish Symphysodon sp.

3) The continued development of an annual discus show.

Don’t forget subscription is 100% optional. You can access the forum free of charge and with no other commitment other than to be polite and respectful.

For the purpose of this document and the forum contents: Owner and webmaster refers to D. Stewart. Admins and moderators (mods) refer to those members that have volunteered their services for non-financial gain and are clearly identified by icon tags within the forums.

Please remember that we are not responsible for any messages posted by members or guests etc. We do not vouch for, or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any message, and are not responsible for the contents of any message.

The messages express the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of the Admin and moderating staff.

The UK Discus Association Forum is intended, for discussions about the Discus fish and other aquarium related subjects. Discussion of some of the topics often become heated, primarily due to out passions, personal beliefs and experiences; therefore, please remember:

Do not state your opinions as fact - doing this will get you into trouble with other members who disagree. A lot of flame wars start off by a person stating an opinion as fact.

Do not bash the subjects. No matter how bad you think it is, there are probably people out there who do like it. If you feel the need to criticize a Subject, do that, criticize - give reasonable explanations for why you feel the way you do.

Tone is the key. Comments should always be factual and spoken gently, never in anger. They should be to the benefit of those spoken to.

If a person is asking for medical advice on their fish, offer an opinion that is based on your experience, point them in the right direction of proprietary medication and or a local vet. 

Remember 1) - people will have different experiences and opinions to yourself - respect this at all times. 

Remember 2) Allow people to use their own judgements on what path of treatment or remedial action to take; after all they are the ones that have all the parameters, and experience with their stock.

You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you or by this bulletin board.

You agree not to use the pm or email system to target members for spamming purposes. Spamming includes the invitaion to buy goods, buy books, join other clubs, forums,the sending of unauthorised links, and anything else that the UKDA mod team deem as objectionalbe. Members wishing to advertise other fourms, clubs, services or goods are welcome and need to contact the administrator.

We reserve the right to refuse membership to the forum and or club. A reason for refusal does not have to be given; however, examples of refusal include, copyright theft or intellectual property right infringement, trading illegally, bringing the hobby into disrepute, behaving in an offensive or inappropriate manner. This condition may be invoked at any time. If a member has his or her membership revoked he or she will not be entitled to a refund, as all monies are seen as a donation either to the forum or the club, at the time the subscriptions or fees were issued and are accepted in good faith.
